Celebrating in the Sukkah!

I had so much fun celebrating Sukkot with all of you! It was fun to hear what families are thankful for and we made some wonderful paper chains. Here are some fantastic pictures from the sukkah and from the classroom!

Also, this week was the first we week we started working on Hebrew learning with the kids in the classroom. Each grade will be working on a different, developmentally appropriate approach for a few minutes every week and will get a workbook to take home at the end of the year. Below are a few fun Hebrew resources if you want to continue Hebrew learning at home. It is our hope at Temple Isaiah is that by 3rd grade our students will be familiar with the AlephBet and know most of the letters by sight and name.

And just for fun, here is a very cute video of Grover learning Hebrew on Shalom Sesame Street, a must watch for adults and kids!

Next week is a kids only week, so we will see families back together in two weeks on 10/30/11!

A Day of Reflection

I really enjoyed getting to hear everyone's thoughts and ideas on self improvement and forgiveness this week during class. It was a very interesting and thought provoking class and I learned a lot from all of you. Thanks for sharing! I wanted to share a few things with all of you. I read this book to the students on Sunday:
The Hardest Word

It is Yom Kippur story about saying "sorry" on Yom Kippor and all year. It is a really great book with a really nice message and the kids loved it. You might want to consider checking it out from our library or getting our own copy.
